KeyKeg tap head from Micro Matic

1. Description and function

The KeyKeg tap head from Micro Matic is a specially developed tapping unit for KeyKeg kegs, which use a disposable balloon design. Unlike conventional keg systems, where the beverage is dispensed from the keg using CO2 pressure, the KeyKeg system works with an inner bag that contains the beverage. The pressurized gas (e.g., air, CO2, or N2) compresses this bag, forcing the liquid to the tap.

2. Technical details and connections

beverage connection: R 5/8″ – standard thread for secure connection of beverage lines.

4. Application and assembly

step 1: Place the tap head on the KeyKeg valve.
step 2: Securely lock the tap head by turning it (usually clockwise).
step 3: Connect the beverage and gas lines to the R 5/8″ connections.
step 4: Activate the compressed gas – this compresses the inner bag in the keg.
step 5: The beverage now flows through the line to the tap.
step 6: After use, remove the tap head and clean it for the next use.

5. Maintenance and cleaning

regular inspection: Check the tap head for dirt or wear.
cleaning: Rinse the tap head with clean water after each use to prevent deposits from forming.
replacement of seals: If leaks occur, the seals or the non-return valve should be checked and replaced if necessary.
